Love, simple as that. Love is the album title of Tayne’s newest work. The pursuit of it, the longing for completion, the vulnerability, all of it, in this four-letter word. The term “four-letter-word” on the other hand is seldom associated with something good and that is also a common thing with love. Love encapsulates so much besides the positive aspects and that is what the album is about, the whole picture of love.
On the musical side, the contradictory aspects of love are expressed in Tayne’s genre collage. The backbone of Love is undoubtedly the pounding industrial sound reminiscent of HEALTH. The muscular mass surrounding it consists of guitars that would fit well with Nine Inch Nails, while the pop appeal of ††† (Crosses) hovers over everything.
The highlights of this album clearly include the guest contributions from Rachel Aspe (Cage Fight) in “Coherent” and James Spence (Rolo Tomassi) in “Fear.” The former is a driving tour de force that thrives on the interplay between the two vocalists, while “Fear” leans more toward the nightclub rather than the sweaty pit.
This constant dance between worlds is the recurring element of this album. “Cause /// Worthless” or the opening track “Erased” shine in monochrome, while “In This Trend” or “Down” breathe the black-light.
Love should be a treat for anybody who has ever had the aforementioned acts in one of their playlists. Tayne deliver a catchy approach to the Industrial genre that will be a delightful addition to any sweaty and angry playlist for the neon-drenched night life.
