(How) do I know fellow authors from Team Transcended?
Sliding into the DM’s of the blog since I’ve always been interested in writing and talking about music.
Why do I want to write about music?
I just want to share my passion about the artists and records I love and maybe enable someone to find their next favourite record or artist through my reviews
First concert ever:
Really hard to say. The first “big” one was certainly Vainstream 2007 with Parkway Drive opening the festival. Which is totally crazy compared to how big they are now. But witnessing some of my favourite bands at that time live for the first time was something else
3 best concert impressions:
1) Last The Dillinger Escape Plan show in Cologne
2) Trash Talk at Sputnik Cafe Münster (Vainstream)
3) Witnessing The Black Dahlia Murder, Despised Icon, Dying Fetus, Suffocation and Origin all in one at Matrix, Bochum
Concerts I missed (and I’m mad about it!)
Have Heart reunion show. Black Sabbath in general
Bands I (still) need to see (again)
Poison The Well need to do a reunion here in Europe. I also need to see Misery Signals again since they’re one of my all-time favourites
First album I bought
Probably Smash by The Offspring or Chocolate Starfish And The Hot Dog Flavoured Water by Limp Bizkit (yeah, I know)
First vinyl I bought
Hatebreed with Satisfaction Is The Death Of Desire . I’m not sure if it was the first but definitely one of the first records I owned on vinyl. Only started collecting 3 years ago but the collection has been increasing rapidly haha
Most precious album (on vinyl) I own
Hand numbered first press of Stormkeeps Tales Of Othertime and Poison The Wells The Opposite Of December
Most frequently spinned album
Impossible to say. I’d think it must be one of the first two Slipknot records since I listend to those religiously after finding out about them in my early teenage years. But could also be Alive Or Just Breathing by Killswitch Engage or Ghost Reveries by Opeth to which I listened to all the time.
Albums that impacted me the most
Most definitely IOWA by Slipknot as I thought it was the most brutal music ever created at the time I discovered it. Further impactful records for me were Master Of Puppets by Metallica, Jane Doe by Converge, Illmatic by Nas, Vulgar Display Of Power by Pantera, as well as Supporting Caste by Propagandhi as far as more melodic stuff goes.
