Event: | Culthe Fest | |
Date: | 25th & 26th of April, 2025
Location: | Am Hawerkamp, Münster
Promoter: | Unaussprechliche Culthe |
We’re incredibly stoked to be able to present Culthe Fest for the third time now! A little late to the game with our pre-report, we nevertheless still want to emphasize the strength of this year’s line-up that once again delivers a hell of a strong combination of great bands.
When you were able to enjoy 16 bands at Culthe Fest in the past, you might have realized that this has changed at Culthe Fest 2025 bringing you a full set of 20 bands, which means that there will be 2 bands more on each day.
At this year’s Culthe Fest, there will be 20 bands from more than 7 countries on three stages, ranging across a broad variety of different genres yet still building a strong framework within the spheres of Extreme Metal. One major aspect that seems to be highlighted at Culthe Fest 2025 is that it is focused on special sets, which marks it as an entirely individual experience already.
In order to get an insight into the entire line-up of Culthe Fest, we took a closer look at all of the bands that will be playing that can be read below, since some of those are also the favorite bands of some of our authors.

Friday, 25th of April
DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT (DE, Black Metal)
Der Weg einer Freiheit will end the first day of the festival with a special set. The German black metal band is considered one of the best in the scene worldwide. They will be joined by Dávid Makó (The Devil’s Trade). This collaboration, which already brought emotional moments to the band’s latest album, will be brought life on stage at Culthe Fest on Friday. This will be the last, and probably unique, opportunity to experience DWEF with a special Noktvrn set. A more than worthy headliner for the first day.

UNDERDARK (ENG, Black Metal)
Underdark intertwine beautiful melodies into their Black Metal wrath. Just like a small avalanche taking speed suddenly, their songs shifts from slow Rock to full-on Black Metal to pitch black bleakness in a second. Their latest album Managed Decline felt like the Post-Black Metal successor of Witness by Modern Life Is War.

KOKOMO (DE, Post-Rock)
The five Duisburgers of Kokomo have been an integral part of the German post-rock scene for over 10 years. On the one hand, these boys are more minimalist, but also harder than many of their contemporaries. A melancholic undertone can be detected as far as possible, but you can also relax and let yourself drift with the band.

WORMWITCH (CAN, Black Metal)
Culthe Fest will be receiving an international visit from Wormwitch. The black metal juggernaut is one of the many highlights you definitely shouldn’t miss. Blast beats and hellish guitar riffs will transform the festival into a true battlefield. Neck pain is almost guaranteed from all the headbanging.

ANCST (DE, Black Metal)
It feels quite difficult to introduce these scene legends since it feels as if – in our bubble – everyone has at least for once heard of Ancst. Always worth a visit with a strong balance between Black Metal, Crust and Hardcore Punk and recently also electronical elements on their latest release Binary Wrath. Prepare for the whole plate at this show.
THE DEVIL’S TRADE (HUN, Dark Folk)
The Devil’s Trade will not only be performing together with Der Weg Einer Freiheit, but will also deliver a full band set at Culthe Fest 2025 that might even include new material off their recently finished recordings for their upcoming 5th album.
VERHEERER (DE, Black Metal)
On the 4th of April, Verheerer released their 3rd full-length Urgewalt, which means that this release will still be hot when you’re able to witness the live performance of some of its songs at Culthe Fest. The 10th anniversary of Verheerer’s EP Archar will be celebrated with a full live performance at Culthe Fest as well.
MACHUKHA (UA/DE, Post-Black Metal)
With a strong blend of Post-Black Metal and Hardcore, Machukha will play their 2024 full-length Mochari in its entirety.
TÜÜL (NL, Dark Folk)
In order to deliver the expected amount of atmospheric dark folk, Tüül will be playing EP Moorland and set the mood for captivating atmosphere.
HÆRESIS (DE, Black Metal)
Having been encountered with this band for the first time when having followed the announcements for Culthe Fest 2023, I fully got stuck on Haeresis. If you were hyped for the release of their full-length debut, you will be able to experience a (pre) release show of this album via live performance together with guests. With this band as opener, you certainly need to make sure to be available right from the start, just to make this clear.
Saturday, 26th of April
AHAB (DE, Death Doom Metal)
Juggernauts Ahab have been suffocating the scene with their Doom for 20 years now, which is why they will celebrate their anniversary at Culthe Fest 2025. This will take place with an entire best of show that will finish off this second day perfectly!
SUN WORSHIP (DE, Black Metal)
Sun Worship has remained one of the most interesting Black Metal acts I can come up with. With the release of their latest full-length Upon the Hills of Divination, they once more justified this position. It will certainly be a major highlight to experience a performance of the enitre album live!
TAKH (BE, Post/Punk/Rock/Doom/Alternative)
TAKH’s music is a hypnotic siren’s song for the end and a coming new start. the listener is captivated by their mixture of Doom and Post-Metal. Two soothing voices accompanied by drums reminiscing a steady heartbeat. You feel yourself aligning to the music like in trance.

FEN (UK, Atmospheric/Post Black Metal)
Harsh and piercing guitar tones along with atmospherical chants will be poured over you when listening to UK Black Metal act Fen.
HEALTHYLIVING (UK/ES/DE, Alternative/Dark/Post Rock/Metal)
It seems as if there are always a hand full of musical acts at Culthe Fest that sets apart from the remaining line-up – surely in a good way. I always liked that. It is quite difficult to grasp the sound of Healthyliving, which is reason enough to make sure to enjoy their set.
BANK MYNA (FR, Dark Post Rock/Doom/Drone/Ambient/Experimental)
For the connoisseurs of slow music, Bank Myna will surely be interesting when they play their official release show of their upcoming second full-length release Eimura.
ALKERDEEL (BE, Black Metal)
Harsh and lo-fi tones emanate from the realms of Alkerdeel, who strongly root their Black Metal tone in the spheres of Punk. Our TMB colleagues know that I am fully convinced of Belgian and Dutch Black Metal, Alkerdeel are one of the arguments that might come up in such a discussion.
UNRU (DE, Black Metal)
When Unru released their Die Wiederkehr des Verdrängten, this found one hell of a resonance in our team chat. Furiously refreshing and innovative Black Metal that mixes beautiful atmosphere with mere chaos.
BIRTAWIL (FR, Ambient/Experimental/Drone)
With their show at Culthe Fest 2025, Birtawil will present a special set with new material.
SHAGOR (NL, Black Metal)
As just mentioned when talking about Haeresis, Culthe Fest seems to be quite aware of what bands to set on the opening spot of each day. As on day one, you should definitely make sure to enjoy Shagor’s atmospheric Black Metal that will open up the second day of Culthe Fest 2025 playing their entire new second album.
