Remember, when we told you, that the great thing about Russian Circles is, that they would also work with vocals? Well, our thoughts were heard, here are Cavern. Imagine the sound and feel of Blood Year combined with with a strong female voice.
I stumbled upon this release and was immediately hooked. The first song “River” steps right into your ears without any intro or something like that. I was immediately hooked by the voice and the groove of the song. The same applies to the other five songs, which are pleasantly from each other, even if you can recognize certain similarities in their style here and there.
The whole record feels like a spinning pool of water you get sucked in and can’t get out, which is a very good thing in this case. If you like this kind kind of music, your upper body and head, maybe your right foot, will not stay still for the whole 24 minutes of the album. Cavern have the talent to create songs that are driving yet still calming because of the beautiful melodies.
And now if you’ll excuse me, I have to catch up on the last albums of this band.
